According to Caredge.com, the list below is the 10 best cars to insure in 2025, as they are more than $1,000 cheaper than the current average for full coverage.  

Mazda CX-5 

First on the list is the Mazda CX-5, which is not only a great crossover SUV but one of the best driving SUVs on the market. The average cost of insuring the CX-5 is around $1,877, which puts it over $1,000 below the national average. Since its debut in 2013, the CX-5 has been an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+. The Mazda is considered to be not only reliable but also easy to own over a 5-year period.  

Honda CR-V 

As one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States, the Honda CR-V is considered by many to be the ultimate everyday crossover for families. Similar to the Mazda, the CR-V is expected to have an annual insurance premium of only $1,881. Data shows that the Honda has low theft rates and is one of the more reliable crossovers on the market. The IIHS has named the CR-V a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ every year since 2015.  

Hyundai Kona 

With an average yearly insurance cost of $1,890, the Hyundai Kona is a really nice small crossover with good looks, plenty of technology, and standard safety features. Because of its small size, the Kona is fun to drive and comfortable in all types of driving. Since Hyundai introduced it in 2018, the Kona has regularly been awarded either a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.  

Subaru Outback 

As a perennial IIHS TSP or TSP+, the Subaru Outback is one of the only vehicles to receive the highest crash test ratings since 2010, and all in a row, too. It also helps that the Outback has standard Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel drive, where front-wheel drive is standard on all other non-Subaru crossovers. The Subaru is one of the most outdoorsy vehicles on this list and has an average annual premium of $1,893, which is still more than $1,000 below the national average.  

Chrysler Voyager 

Okay, hear us out. We know a minivan isn’t considered “cool” by some modern standards, especially since everyone thinks they need an SUV. However, the Voyager is a reliable vehicle that will pack an entire family, your household pets, and more into it and not complain one bit. The Voyager has the interior volume of a larger, 3-row SUV while getting superior fuel economy and being very safe. Since the Voyager is the more price-conscious version of the Pacifica minivan, buyers can expect to save nearly $1,000 per year on insurance with an average cost of $1,897.  

Subaru Crosstrek 

The younger sibling of the Outback, the Crosstrek does most of what its older, larger sibling can do just for less money. Like the Outback, the Crosstrek is very safe, earning the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ designations nearly every year it’s been available since 2013. Also, the Crosstrek features standard all-wheel drive and will run owners an average of $1,897 per year to insure.  

Hyundai Tucson 

Like the CR-V, the Hyundai Tucson is one of the best-selling cars in America and has been an IIHS TSP or TSP+ every year since 2016. The Tucson is well known for being very good looking and having a great interior, and its affordability, tech features, fuel economy, and safety. These all help to keep the average yearly cost to insure the Hyundai down to just $1,905.  

Mazda CX-30 

The Mazda CX-30 is a slightly smaller and more coupe-like crossover similar to its larger CX-5 sibling. The CX-30 offers excellent value in terms of size and fuel economy, as well as an average yearly insurance cost of just $1,909.
