U.S. News & World Report Looks at The Best Selling Trucks in the USA

What are the best-selling pickup trucks in the U.S.A. today? It is quite an impressive list, according to U.S. News and World Report. They listed these pickup trucks backwards in terms of sales volume for the first six months of the 2025 calendar year.
Before they dove into the list, U.S. News and World Report discussed the market itself. They said, “[s]hopping for a pickup truck is becoming quite a complex endeavor. Many automakers in the truck segment have expanded their ranges to trucks in two or three distinct sizes, and several offer electrified powertrains. Some are more popular than others, but it all adds up to a booming market.”

For this list, we’ll give you the top five best-selling pickup trucks of 2025 through June. And, they are:
- Toyota Tacoma: Named their 2025 Best Midsize Pickup Truck for the Money award winner, U.S. News and World Report said it offers “great overall value.” They added that “[t]he Tacoma’s cab is well-built, with supportive front seats. Shoppers have a choice not only of engine, transmission, cab, and bed configurations, but also rear suspensions. There’s a full suite of standard driver-assistance tech plus an easy-to-use infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity.”
- GMC Sierra: The sales figures for this model include Sierra 1500, Heavy Duty, and EV models. U.S. News and World Report explained that the Sierra is “GMC’s more upscale version of the Chevrolet Silverado. GMC’s marketing and image appeal more to tradespeople than to families or to new pickup truck owners.” However, their Denali luxury pickup truck trim level is more desirable to consumers than other models. The AT4 off-road-ready models are coming up fast on the Denali’s heels.
- Ram 1500: This pickup truck won the U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Full Size Pickup Truck for the Money award and has a score of 9.7 out of 10. They further mentioned that the Ram 1500’s “bold exterior is backed up by its solid performance, with a bunch of powertrain choices and available upgrades to suspension and four-wheel-drive systems. Inside, this truck is refined and elegant, with a functional yet sophisticated design finished in nice materials. Ram’s infotainment technology is intuitive and easy to use as well.” You can also say the same for Ram’s Heavy Duty pickups.
- Chevrolet Silverado: The Silverado’s sales figures include the 1500, Heavy Duty, and EV pickup truck models. U.S. News and World Report added that “[t]he Silverado is easy to drive for its size, and any of its engine options get it up to speed with ease. The interior is roomy, especially in the Crew Cab, though it’s more utilitarian than luxurious.” Some models come equipped with hands-free driver assistance technology, known as Super Cruise.
- Ford F-Series: U.S. News and World Report stated that the F-Series is not only the best-selling automobile in the U.S.A. for over four decades, but in the world. In fact, it is sold in other markets outside of North America. They said that “[t]his truck can tow and haul more than its rivals, making it ready for the job site or the lakeside. It also has excellent interior quality. It comes with plenty of standard safety features, such as rear cross-traffic alert, along with a large 12-inch touch screen and wireless smartphone connectivity.” U.S. News and World Report even gave the F-Series – including the F-150, Super Duty, and F-150 Lightning – a score of 9.5 out of 10.

What does that mean for used pickup trucks? The more volume these vehicles are being sold, the potential that their availability would be abundant. With these five – and more – pickup trucks entering the used vehicle market in the next few years, you may find the right combination of utility, capacity, capability, and cab comfort you want in one.
